Volunteering with Children in Foster Care
Thank you for your interest in volunteering to work directly with children in foster care, specifically through Embrace’s “Sunday Funday” program. Volunteers for this program are recruited and equipped by Embrace, cleared by Child Protective Services, then coordinated to serve by local churches (and Embrace). It’s not a simple process, but it’s worth it. Complete the following steps at your own pace. If you need anything along the way, just reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
Once you’re approved, we can help you coordinate a small group to serve, or pair you with other individual volunteers for a specific Sunday. Please remember, all activities must take place on-site, and are primarily geared toward teens. Children and other guests may not accompany scheduled volunteers to the residence.
Step 1: Register as a volunteer
Step 3: Training
All volunteers must complete the following trainings, and download/sign Form 0249 acknowledging completion of training prior to volunteering:
–Reporting Abuse or Neglect (1 hour training)
–Signs of Child Abuse (webpage)
–Cultural Competency (14-minute video)
–Trauma Informed Care (2-hour training)
–Be The One (50 minute video)
Step 4: Get scheduled to serve
Upon completion of steps 1 through 3, and after receiving approval from CPS to volunteer, a staff member from Embrace will coordinate upcoming dates and times to serve.
It’s a lot.
We know. Thank you for hanging in there and doing what it takes to be a positive influence in a child’s life.
