At Embrace, we fervently believe every child deserves the love, safety, and stability of a forever family. Children lingering in foster care may drift from placement to placement as they wait, often many years, for a forever family. Embrace’s unique “Child to Family Connection” events help connect prospective adoptive parents with these waiting children.
Foster, adoptive and kinship care families are always changing, and so are the needs of their kids! Whether you’re in need of a toddler bed, toys, or gently used clothing, a local “foster closet” can be a great resource for your family. We’ve compiled a list of foster closets and resources serving families like yours in the DFW area. PLEASE contact each location to confirm details/hours/procedures before you make a visit. Some locations allow you to “shop” for children in your care, while others pull items for you. The resources listed here are independent, and not a part of the Embrace Texas ministry. Embrace is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Monetary donation to Embrace are tax deductible, but they also help stretch your impact. Embrace can extend the purchasing power of donated dollars because we do not pay sales tax. 100% of your donations go toward improving the care and lives of neglected and abused children, right here in our community. You may designate donations to go toward specific efforts or services, but undesignated gifts give our team more flexibility when meeting needs or planning programming. Embrace does not directly accept donations of gently used toys, clothing, furniture, or luggage BUT these items can be very helpful to the families we serve. Instead of warehousing items (and becoming a middle man), we’ve created a platform on social media to connect you (the donor) directly with those in need of what you’re offering. You can post any items you wish to offer for FREE to foster/adoptive/kinship families and foster alumni on The Loop Facebook page.
Some families will open their homes to care directly for children in foster care, but most individuals who care about children in our community will get involved in other ways. Embrace can help you discover meaningful ways to make a difference!
You can create a box-full of fund for children in foster care. Simply register your project, gather the items on the packing list, package, and deliver. Your box will be delivered directly to a child in foster care.
