Welcome to your source
for foster care and
adoption information!

There’s an urgent need for foster and adoptive families in Dallas and surrounding communities. The North Texas Foster Care & Adoption Gateway is a collaborative effort to raise awareness and ensure every prospective foster or adoptive parent understands the process to foster or adopt in Metroplex East (Texas Region 3). Whether you’re just investigating and gathering information, ready to take next steps, or already in the licensing process, we’re here for you.

  • Positive home study
  • No physical discipline

What foster care/ adoption region do I live in?

For the purposes of managing foster care and adoption, the State of Texas is divided into several geographical regions. It’s important to know what region of the state you live in so you can gather accurate information and connect with agencies serving your community. If you reside in Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson,  Hunt, Kaufman, Navarros or Rockwall Counties you are a part of Metroplex East (formerly Region 3). The information provided on this page is specific to the licensing agencies who serve this area. If you live outside of these counties you can use this link to search a map of Texas and determine your region.

First Steps:

  • Confirm the region you live in
  • Attend an information meeting
  • Select a licensing agency
  • Complete training
  • Open your home to a child!

How many children are waiting for adoption?

There are over 1,000 children right here in our community waiting for adoption from foster care. The most urgent need is for families for children who are over the age of 12, minorities, those with special needs, and large sibling groups.
