Braid & Barber
Get ready to go back to school with fresh hair. This one-day event is open to all children in foster or adoptive families. Haircuts will be available to all children ages 5-18, and braids will be offered to kids ages 6-18, provided they have had their hair braided before. Please only register for children currently in your care/household. We request that you make a $25 deposit to reserve a braiding appointment or a $10 deposit for a barber/haircut appointment.  However, you will receive a FULL REFUND for all appointments when you arrive on time (15 minutes before your appointment) and get your cut or braids. You will NOT receive a refund if you do not show up. A specific appointment time between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm will be sent to you once you are matched with a hairstylist/barber.

The barber/stylist will provide basic haircuts and styles for boys and girls. Blow drying and/or styling will not be offered after a cut. For braids, medium to large braids and basic styles will be offered (nothing elaborate or complicated). Depending on the style you choose, you may need to bring supplies for braiding (hair braided-in will match your child’s natural hair color). If you are getting braids, you will reach out to a stylist in advance to confirm details such as hair color and chosen style (a photo of your child’s hair may be requested) and to be given preparation instructions. Please arrive with freshly washed and dried hair, as hair washing and drying are NOT provided.

Additionally, we are introducing a hair care maintenance class from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. This class will cover general detangling and at-home styling (nothing complicated). All brushes, hair ties, combs, and other supplies will be provided for the class, so there is no need to bring anything.

Light snacks and activities will be available for kids while they wait.
