Each July Embrace hosts a unique summer camp, especially tailored for foster and adoptive families caring for children with physical, emotional, or developmental challenges. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and grantors, this camp is provided at no cost to the families who attend. Hideaway at Rockin’ E Ranch is a 4 day, 3 night adventure on a guest ranch in West Texas. Children experience group games, water play, equine therapy, crafts, fishing, archery, and much more, all with the support of trauma-informed staff and volunteers. Many happy memories are made, and families leave feeling rested and connected.
You’re invited to be a part of providing this incredible experience to children and families. Volunteers are needed both in advance, and at the camp to serve in the following ways:
- Writing letters to campers to be delivered on horseback by our very own Pony Express
- Praying for attendees and camp staff
- Attending camp as a counselor or photographer
- Sending campers off with signs and cheers, or greeting them on return (all campers ride to and from camp on a charter bus)

If you’re a foster, adoptive, or kinship care provider you are welcome to apply to attend Hideaway at Rockin’ E Ranch. Space is limited to 65 campers per session. An independent scholarship committee reviews all applications and selects families awarded scholarships each year. Families who have not attended camp before, those who might not find typical family camps accessible, those with financial hardship, and families who actively participate in support groups or other Embrace programs are given priority.
