Bruce and Denise Kendrick co-founded Embrace at Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas in 2007 in partnership with others at the church.
The Kendrick’s have nine children, five adopted and four biological, and three grandchildren. After years of foster parenting, they realized every child God brought to their doorstep could need an adoptive family and just as importantly an advocate for their birth family. With more than 15 years of caring for neglected and abused children, the Kendrick’s have been foster parents, kinship providers, mentors, parent coaches, and adoptive parents.
Bruce is an ordained pastor having served on church staff at First Baptist Church of Frisco, Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas, and currently serves as the Director of Orphan Care at Watermark Community Church in Dallas. After ten years of serving with Embrace and carrying the message that the Church must lead the evangelical orphan care movement, Bruce returned to leading church ministry in Fall 2017.
Denise grew up at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas and came to a saving knowledge of Christ at First Baptist Church of Coppell, Texas. With a degree from the University of North Texas in Education, Denise led Embrace as the Director of Programs until Fall 2017 when she was selected to be the Executive Director.
