Adoption Events

The foster care system is no place to call home. Sadly, over 1,000 children in our state are growing up in foster care, waiting for an adoptive family. Children who are over the age of 12, part of a sibling group, have special needs, or are minorities have less than a 4% chances of adoption.

Embrace has a vision for a future where EVERY child has a loving, stable home. We’re making this vision a reality by tirelessly championing the cause in our community. In addition to our foster and adoptive parent recruitment and retention efforts, Embrace works to identify adoptive families for specific children in foster care. Each year Embrace hosts a fall and summer “Child to Family Connection” adoption events to aid in the matching of waiting children with adoptive parents. Unlike traditional “match carnivals”, these innovative events bring together a child’s caseworker, CASA, foster parents, attorney to represent the child to prospective adoptive parents in attendance. Additionally, a table display visually communicates each child’s unique interests, personality, and goals. Items for the table are provided by sponsors who shop for each child. When the event ends, the toys, books, clothing, sports equipment and other items are packed up and will be delivered to the child. These events protect children from the trauma and rejection they might experience meeting prospective families at in-person adoption match events.
